According to our previous post, we already have our Causal Loop Diagram in hands. This post intends to explain each factor related to the Diagram.
Exogen Variable: The exogenous variable represents all the disturbs that may occur to the system, leading to a temperature change.
Temperature: in this paper, the focus is on the water temperature, which is vital to the environment and walfere of the ecosystem. According to historical data, the global temperature is increasing each year, as we can see in the following graph:
Gas Solubility on Water: There are many important gases to the life underwater. But, in our research we are only going to analyse the CO2, which is directly related to the photosynthesis of the seaweed. This factor decreases as the temperature of the water rises, making it rarefied to the photosynthesis process, according to the following graph:
Food Availability: This factor refers to the amount of seaweed and little marine animals that compound the tortoise's nutrition.
Green Tortoise (Chelonia Mydas): Is the chosen species population to be analysed on our study. Its diet consist on small animals on the first year of life and seaweed on the following years.
Sea Level Rise: The reproduction rate of sea turtles is very delicate and easily affected by external factors. In this study we are going to analyse how temperature increases the sea level and how that change affect turtles reproduction.
Predatory Fishing: This factor is directly related to the variation of turtles, althought they are not the priority of fishermen, sometimes turtles get stuck on the fishing net and also dies due to the fishing practice.
Anthropological Factors: These factors consists on the presence of the human beings on the enviroment. The lifestyle of the human species creates solid and liquid pollutants, such as greenhouse gases, making the world temperature to rise.
